So the main question is this: How can Gideon be a semi-functioning walking corpse, but also be Harrow's dead cavalier? Kiriona/Gideon says and I quote 'get in line, thou big slut.' so she confirms that she is still with Harrow, in Lyctorhood? If the corpse really is kiriona, and that is someone separate from Gideon, then this would be fine, but this is exactly something Gideon would do as a joke (as suggested when introduced). but dead? She doesn't identify as Gideon but definitely seems sassy enough. well less of a fact when we think about Harrow's self-performed lobotomy, but she had to have escaped somehow, at the very least. I suppose I want to know what happened to Harrow between the ending of both of these books.īut what really intrigues me is that we know for a fact that Gideon was merged with her Necromancer in the second book. merges with Aleto maybe? They seem to alternate between Alecto being talked about in the first person (think the chapter about John blowing up the universe, where he talks about the absolute magnitude of 'you') but Harrow being named as talking to him in the dialogue? I think we can definitely safely assume that the second child is Gideon, who tries to strike down Alecto and Alecto remembers them from their dream (Nona remembers Gideon from her dream etc). The ending wasn't exactly super clear on the first and second child (I would imagine Harrow and Gideon) but then where did Harrow spring from? Are the John chapters in this book her sort of fever dream locked tomb death cycle as she sort of. So the majority of this post will focus on the last 3 or so chapters of Nona the Ninth, but if I'm remembering correctly, Harrow crawled inside that tomb and essentially put herself on ice. I have two major confusions that I would like to discuss. That isn't a bad thing, not in the slightest, and to be honest I could just be stupid, but it's been a long time since I read the second book so. I've just finished the third instalment of Tamsyn Muir's Locked tomb series, and as per usual with this collection of books, I'm left intrigued, confused and feeling as though I need a string board to piece together my theories.

Nona the locked tomb
